Press Release

Mercoin Inc. Concludes Business Partnership Agreement with Coincheck, Inc.

Cryptoasset transactions with Coincheck now available through the Mercari cryptoasset trading service

Mercari, Inc. (“Mercari”) subsidiary Mercoin, Inc. (“Mercoin”) announces that it has concluded a business partnership agreement (“this partnership”) related to collaboration with Coincheck, Inc. (“Coincheck”) to expand the cryptoasset market in Japan. Mercoin is involved in the planning and development of services related to cryptoassets and blockchain technology; Coincheck is the operator of the cryptoasset trading service Coincheck.

Note: This partnership will allow Mercari users to perform cryptoasset transactions with Coincheck by going through Mercoin as an intermediary. Here, Mercari means the Mercari marketplace app, and not Mercari, Inc., the company. The same applies to the content that follows.

■ Background of the partnership

Based on the Mercari Group mission, "circulate all forms of value to unleash the potential in all people," Mercoin has provided cryptoasset trading services since March of 2023. Reflecting efforts to create an easy-to-use and safe service experience, Mercoin has reached over three million1 user accounts approximately a year and nine months since it first started providing its services. Around 90% of Mercoin users had no previous experience trading cryptoassets2, expanding the use of cryptoassets to people who had never engaged with them before.

Guided by their mission of “making exchange of new value easier,” Coincheck, Inc. operates Coincheck, the largest cryptoasset trading service in Japan. Coincheck has built a solid track record, and as of June 30, 2025, it holds user assets totaling 1 trillion JPY and has been recorded as the most-downloaded cryptoasset provider app3 in Japan for six consecutive years.

As a subsidiary of Monex Group, Inc. (listed on the TSE Prime Market) and Coincheck Group N.V. (listed on NASDAQ), Coincheck has established internal controls, risk management, and security systems aligned with the standards expected of a publicly listed financial group. As a leading cryptoasset exchange business, Coincheck provides services with high transparency and reliability, to ensure the safety and trust of its users.

As interest in cryptoassets has gained traction worldwide in recent years, the number of crypotoasset accounts in Japan has steadily risen to 12.4 million. However, this remains a limited number compared to the number of securities accounts and Nippon Individual Savings Accounts (NISA) accounts, meaning there is potential for the market to grow even more.

Since Mercoin and Coincheck started providing their services, they have contributed to a rise in the number of Japan cryptoasset accounts concentrated on first-time users. To accelerate the expansion of the industry going forward, the two companies will leverage their strengths and examine how to further increase the number of cryptoasset holders, create a society that circulates and trades not just things but also new forms of value, and come closer to realizing each company’s mission.

■ Overview of the partnership

Through this partnership, Mercoin and Coincheck have begun collaboration to expand the cryptoasset market in Japan.

The two companies have started by examining a partnership that will allow users to create new Coincheck accounts and trade cryptoassets with Coincheck. Mercari’s cryptoasset trading service provider Mercoin would function as an intermediary. The proposed start date for the service is sometime in the first half of 2026.

To date, Mercari’s cryptoasset trading service has provided users access to three crytoassets: bitcoin, ethereum, and XRP. However, when this partnership goes into effect, the various cryptoassets provided by Coincheck will also become available via Mercari’s cryptoasset trading service. This will make them easily accessible, creating a new service that affords an experience of circulating various forms of value.

The two companies will continue to discuss their partnership going forward in order to provide convenient services to their users through further collaboration.

■ Comments from the representatives of the two companies regarding the business partnership

Tomoyuki Isaka, Director & President Executive Officer, Coincheck, Inc.

We are delighted to partner with Mercoin, which has provided crypto‐asset services to many customers and driven the expansion of Japan’s crypto-asset market.
We believe this partnership is a major step toward making crypto-assets more accessible not only to Mercari users, but to society as a whole.
Through this partnership, users will be able to seamlessly open accounts and trade crypto-assets with us via Mercari’s service mediated by Mercoin. This will allow many more people to experience “bringing new value exchange closer to everyday life.”
We will continue to deepen our collaboration with Mercoin beyond product links, accelerating growth for both businesses and contributing to the healthy development of Japan’s crypto‐asset industry.

Keita Nakamura, Chief Executive Officer of Mercoin, Inc.

We have formally concluded a business partnership agreement with Coincheck, a company that has long been a pioneer and leader of the cryptoasset industry. Once this partnership comes into effect, users will be able to experience trading Coincheck cryptoassets with Mercoin as an intermediary, which will significantly expand the services and features that our users can use.
The partnership with Coincheck, which promotes new initiatives for the safe management of assets and the industry, and Mercoin, which has familiarized many users with cryptoassets, will accelerate the mass adoption of cryptoassets.
Going forward, our two companies will jointly expand various services, but we would like to continue to deliver a seamless experience that allows our users to use our services easily and safely. We will take a large step toward achieving our company mission of circulating all forms of value by providing an experience that creates new value like nothing before through Coincheck’s features.
Using the opportunities afforded by this partnership, we will deepen our collaboration going forward to expand the development of the industry and the potential of our users beyond cryptoassets.

Mercoin will continue to take on even more new challenges related to the fields of cryptoassets and blockchain technology.
